11 Days Safari Trip Tanzania, Zanzibar

Today, we cross the border into Kenya and en–route to Arusha, stop for a walk at Marangu Waterfalls, continuing on via Moshi – the main entr point for Mt Kilimanjaro

Onward to Tarangire, to spend a day game driving in this terrific, but lesser–known park – view mountains to the south, along with the breath–taking views of the Maasai Steppe, and watch out for huge elephant herds – it forms part of an annual migration for up to 3,000 elephant, 25,000 wildebeest and 30,000 zebra.

Set off to Lake Manyara National Park. This beautiful little park has tremendous diversity and is not only known for tree climbing lions but its many gazelle, zebra, elephant, plus waterbuck and klipspringer. There’s the chance to experience the cultural diversity of Mto–wa–Mbu, starting at the market and visiting a Chagga family producing banana beer and passing by many different farms. This afternoon we enjoy a visit to the Maasai Boma for the cultural encounter of a life time, Maasai are semi–nomadic herders, who choose to live a traditional lifestyle and are known for their distinctive traditional attire.

This morning, depart early for a game drive in the world–renowned Ngorongoro Crater. For many, this wildlife spectacle is the pinnacle of their safari experience. The crater boasts all of the ‘Big 5’, including a small population of endangered black rhino. After a picnic lunch, we head towards the Serengeti through the stunning southern plains. This is the area best known for endless, undulating grass savannah with rocky outcrops that serve as isolated wildlife refuges.
The following days are spent game driving around the the different areas to maximize our chances of seeing some of the planet’s most diverse wildlife spectacles scanning the open plains, spotting many animals from plains game to predators and everything in between and truly realizing just why this national park is so famous

We make our way to Lake Victoria. Passing through the villages of the Sukuma tribe, who grow ground nuts, sorghum and cassava as well as keeping livestock this simple life carries on but with a few poignant reminders of the 20th century
